It has already been a week since my last post? Wow. Okay. Well, here is a drawing for you then:

I have been reading Girl Genius lately. Good, clean, mad scientist fun. You should check it out. The Foglios have been in the business for a long time, and they turn out a comic. I suppose it's pretty goofy by the more hip steampunk standards, but I say so much the better. Steampunk is great and all, but all gears and goggles and mugging for cameras can get a bit dull. It's more fun with ridiculous monsters and talking cats.
Talking cats are surprisingly versatile. They work in just about anything.
That's it for this week. Next week should involve less car shopping and more drawing.

I'm not sure if this sums it up or not:

The fundraiser for my friend went well. Art was sold, snacks were devoured and we ended up having a sort of miniature reunion of the Sonoma State University students and faculty from my time there. All in all, a very pleasant evening and a very successful one for helping pay medical bills. I had not been to an art event in so long, it was a little odd to be at one again. All the shows I have been in for the last couple of years have been too far away for me to attend and receptions. I guess I am making up for it this month.
Tonight is the reception for the Baker's Dozen show (which you may have heard I am a part of, announcement card or no) at Quicksilver Mine Co. I will be there tonight, probably for the entire opening, 4pm - 6pm, and my books will be there through February 27th. Maybe you should be there in that time span too.
In less cheerful news, I now know how much it costs to repair the head gasket on a 1988 Volvo station wagon. I am a fan of learning, but some pieces of knowledge I could probably do without.
To celebrate my new knowledge (may as well...) here is a second drawing for you this week:

Until next time!
Also, check last week's post and noted the art auction my work is in on 1-16-2011 and the show I am in at Quicksilver Mine Co. starting on 1-22-2011.

I finished my sketchbook this week. I always like finishing sketchbooks. It makes me feel good. There is something very satisfying about being able to point at a book and being able to say it is full from beginning to end with stuff I made. The art books I make do much the same thing for me, but there is a level of excitement to finishing a sketchbook that the art books don't quite match. The excitement is about the next sketchbook. As soon as I finish one sketchbook I have to rush and start a new one. That is a whole new book that will be full of my work, but it's not full yet. The possibilities are very exciting.
Here are some exciting drawings for you. The first is from the new sketchbook:

The second is just exciting:

I am back! The year has changed and now everyone has to to think extra hard when dating their checks! I'm sure these two things are more than enough to send all of you into celebration mode for weeks on end, but you really shouldn't get too worked up yet, because there is more good news.
I will be showing my work at The Quicksilver Mine Co. this month. That's right, those of you who don't have the fortune of living in my house will actually have a chance to see some of my hand-made books in person. To whet you appetites, here are images of the covers of all three:

Wonder what's inside? Then go to the show! Here's the show card:

Ok, so my name isn't on the announcement. I was let into the show after the card was printed. The books will be there though, so don't you fret. Of course, two whole weeks is a long time to have to wait but you don't actually have to wait that long. I am participating in an art auction/fundraiser to help pay medical bills for a friend of mine. I will have one or two pieces up for auction on January 16th in Penngrove. Here is the information for that:

A lot of really fantastic artists have donated work, and Natalie is one of the most deserving people I have ever met.
That's all for now. You have a good week, now!
